Art Bazaar (Closebourne Morpeth, Lambton Park & Speers Point Park)
How did it all begin?
Art was my favourite subject in school, and my parents always encouraged me. Painting was always something that I wanted to do. I always made things when I was growing up and worked with my hands. Born & raised in Taree I began painting at a young age & when I was only 12 I entered the Walkom-Manning Art Prize where I won the “Children of the Manning” Youth Award with “Wingham Brush”. This was the first exhibition I entered
What do you like most about being a stallholder?
Meeting so many lovely & interesting people who praise you for your work & in especially those who appreciate it so much that they make a purchase!
What do you like least about being a stallholder?
Setting up, packing up, inclement weather & manning a stall on my own is difficult for when nature calls & for getting lunch or coffee
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Continue to increase my sales to be eligible to convert my hobby to a sole trader with a decent regular income
What one piece of advice would you give to a new stallholder?
Choosing a market tent with a different coloured canopy to stand out, have 3 side walls which you might not use all of them all the time but just in case the weather turns, a bi-fold table, water leg weights which can be used on any surface, professional looking price tags & matching signage etc
